Blueberry Picking

Yesterday we went to Kelders Farm (Accord, NY) to visit our animal friends, milk the cow and pick some blueberries! It was lot's of fun and we got lot's of blueberries. Blueberry smoothie time! Heres a recipe that I created:

  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups of pitted sour plums
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons of honey (or sugar)
Put all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Ta-daaa! A sweet yet tangy smoothie!

Happy Birthday To.....

ME!!! I just turned 13 today, yay! I got some cool stuff like a lunch bag with a cold insulator made from recycled materials, a BEAUTIFUL bracelet, a book called "What I Know Now, Letters to My Younger Self" and more. I had a special birthday dinner of yummy Indian food like Tandoori Chicken and Naan (Indian bread) and some french crumb cake for dessert. Tomorrow I have a date with my Aunt to go shopping, eat Sushi and hang out at her apartment. Thanks to all who came to my party, especially my parents (Who were able to keep themselves from crying, mostly) for making my 13th birthday special! :)

A Vacation In Beautiful Fish Creek

(This is a picture of a Fish Creek Sunset that I took on my cell-phone)
Just 10 minutes ago I got out of my grandparents truck after a 5 hour drive, coming from a week long vacation in Fish Creek, Adirondacks, New York. There was plenty to do since the weather was unbelievably sunny and warm, including canoeing, fishing, swimming and cooking over the fire! It was almost record-breaking hot for being so high up in the mountains so we swam every chance we got (at least twice a day). I cooked bacon over the campfire and watched the sun go down. You could hear the people "yoo-hooing" (it is a Fish Creek tradition to yell "yoo-hoo" facing the lake and people will answer by "yoo-hooing" back) across the lake at sunset. I caught three fish, one of them was a Pumpkinseed Sunny (Sometimes known as a "Spot") which are common freshwater fish and usually the first fish to be caught by beginning fishermen/fisherwomen. We were at the Fish Creek Pond Campground on site 12 (click for a picture and more info) were you could walk right out of your trailer/tent and go swimming/fishing/canoeing/etc. . The road is paved very nicely so you can bike ride for miles on nice, flat pavement. If you have been to Fish Creek or somewhere else in the Adirondacks, leave a comment telling me about your stay!

My first Karate classes

I just started taking Karate Classes and it is soooo fun! I don't have the uniform or even an actual belt. I have taken two classes so far and it is pretty tough on your body. Karate teaches you all sorts of interesting things like how to escape a grasp and how to count in Japanese. I hope to get the Karate uniform called a Gi and get my white belt soon and then I will feel like a real ninja! I go to a Dojo* called the New Paltz Karate Academy where there are nice teachers that will even work one-on-one with you if you are new to the Dojo*. If you live in the area and are looking to start Karate classes, check out THIS LINK!

*Dojo in Japanese means "place of the way", and it is usually subject to Temples.

Toy Story 3

Most girls my age (I am 12 soon to be 13) would take one look at the new release "Toy Story 3" and say "That's for toddlers.", but I disagree! When my siblings and I were little we LOVED all of the Toy Story movies, so I was curious what the new Toy Story 3 would be like. I went into the theater with low expectations but I would have to say, BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!! It was hilarious! With great new characters like Ken (Third from Bottom), the girls toy who is obsessed with clothes, and Lotso (Second from Bottom), Short for Lots-O-Huggin'-Bear, the bear who smells like strawberries. It had a few emotional parts that made me cry but most of it is just laugh-out-loud funny. I think that people of all ages should go see this movie (3-D or 2-D) and you will not regret it! I give this movie:
